Matt, Josie Mae, Maggie and Babe visit Blackwater Falls, WV

Saturday, March 29th – We couldn’t think of anything really fun to do at home (I had a board meeting, and the kids had been playing at home). Plus, mommy needed a break. So . . . we journeyed 25 miles south to Blackwater Falls state park, just outside of Davis, WV. The kids wanted to play on ‘the rock,’ where Babe and Maggie are sitting in the picture above. They ran down the hundreds of steps to see the falls, and then got worried when Frances slipped through the railing and was on the ‘other side.’ We then picnicked on another rock, nestled in the woods alongside the trail. We tried to climb a really steep and hard rock (the girls decided to just walk around to the top of the small ledge), and then we headed into town to eat at Hellbenders, the local burrito place. The kids visited the bathroom like ten times, ate a hot cheese dip (their look at first was of suspicion, but the cheese was rich enough to win them past the bite of the jalapeño), and then dissected their respective burritos (Maggie’s was a PB&J variety). Messy, messy kids. We left a nice tip. -Matt
