Easter, Spring Greetings

Hello from the snowmelt hills of Western Maryland. "Snow melt" is the key word. Our ground is saturated, the land springs mushy with the stuff. Our yard is scarred with its effects. Is that a gopher, or a thousand moles? You can't sit anywhere without getting your butt wet.

We celebrated Easter with a fast departure from church. The service was beautiful, Chip made his weekly appeal for us to trust in god and be bold, but without snack at the end, the notion of lingering with four hungry kids didn't jive.

I made a forward exit with Cooper, whereby we hoped to catch the Easter Bunny in action. No dice, but I did get a head start on lunch. Left-overs. Yum. No easter feast for this clan. But lots of candy. Jesus would have been proud of how Maggie shared her chocolate bunny with her dad.

The rest of the day was spent cleaning and sleeping. Pom-Poko was on all day, it seemed. Matt cleaned and organized outside. Josie was a huge help. Babe a menace. Cooper all charm and yawp. Maggie an ethereal mirth. Kieran napped, cleaned, organized and generally kept order inside (until the shower went cold, and then all hell broke loose). Matt overheard Marilyn, Kieran's mom, explaining to Josie how Easter Sunday always follows the first Full moon of Spring. He never knew that.

Now the kids are in bed. Happy Easter. - Matt
