Memorial services for Mrs. J. Eugene Taylor, 63, wife of a retired Nashville insurance executive, will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church. The Rev. Paschall Davis will officiate.

MRS. TAYLOR died July 11 in London after a heart attack while she and her husband were completing a five-month tour of Europe.

A native of Winchester, Tenn., she was the former Josephine Cooper, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Emmett Cooper. She attended the old Ward Belmont School here and received the BA and MA degrees at Vanderbi1t University.

In 1939 she married Taylor, who retired in 1970 as underwriting vice president of the National Life and Accident Insurance Co. Longtime Nashvillians, they moved to Sarasota, Fla. last year.

MRS. TAYLOR was a founding member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church here. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and a life master of the American Contract Bridge League.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Ben Kingree and Josh Taylor, Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. Irma C. Waddell, Tucson, Ariz.; an aunt, Miss Hoyland Wilson, Ocean Springs, Miss., and eight grandchildren. The family said memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew's memorial fund.

Ward Belmont & Vanderbilt
Jo attended high school and the first two years of college at Ward Belmont. Her interest in writing is evident in her involvement as Vice President of the Literary Club, "Wordsmiths" in 1929. Several poems that were published in annual yearbook.

She graduated in 1931 from Vanderbilt and switched from a major in English to Social Science due to a disagreement with her professor. She served as Treasurer in a Junior Literary Club, "Scribblers,” and was also a member of The Student Activities Board of The student Union. She received a MA in 1932 , and her Thesis was titled " Up Through The grades, an Educational Autobiography .
